Before discussing the employment trap we have to know first the unemployment trap. These are "Two backs of the same coin". According to The Economic Time, "Unemployment trap is a situation when unemployment benefits discourage the unemployed to go to work. People find the opportunity cost of going to work too high when one can simply enjoy the benefits by doing nothing."[1]
That means when someone is discouraged to go to work as he gets more benefits while becoming unemployed. This is a policy of discouraging people to go to work by giving them some benefits or wages. As a result after a certain period of time, they lost their skill and hard-working mentality.
Now let's come to the point. And it starts with the question that, " What is an employment trap?" Suppose you are entering a job as a fresher. And then your boss said to you, "You will become General Manager of this department within 2-3 months if you work harder more." Now, what will be your thinking? Absolutely you agree with your boss and are ready to give more effort than previous to get the Highest position in the department. But in practical scenario says that " If you work hard more than any other person in the world you can't become the GM of the company only within 2-3 months by your hard-working". But the question is why your boss will give you this kind of false assurance? It is for his own benefit. Like if you work hard your boss will become relaxed as you are his subordinate. You work more which means you decrease your boss's workload. When you become desperate for getting your position then your boss become more strongest in his present position.
So, it is not very clever work to run after what your Boss says without realizing the reality. You have to know the reality and you have to know your caliber. If any one said on the first day of your job life, "Why did you join here only for 15k/30k salary? You deserve more than Mark Zuckerberg's income". You have to understand that this person flatters you.
