PMTS/GSD Analysis

In our garments industry, especially in IE, Merchandising, Production, Planning, etc., are directly related to the SMV.  The abbreviation of SMV is Standard Minutes Value. The total amount of time required to complete a qualities garments is known as SMV. So, here is the question how can we measure the standard time? And another question what is the basement of time measurement? We can measure the time by stopwatch but is it standard for all workers for all operations? No, it is not standard for all workers. Even in the same line, you can identify the time variation of the same process for two workers.

So, what will be the solution? That's why to find out the solution we use PMTS (Pre determine Motions Time System) which is the updated version of the MTM1 motion code. The interesting fact is that in the year 1940 MTM1 has 350 motion codes of an operation. Based on MTM1 Swedish MTM association brought the MTM2 version in 1965 which combined 350 motion codes to only 39 motion codes. So, Now we are using these 39 motion codes which are known as PMTS/GSD codes.

Here, you can see the video of a sewing process analysis with PMTS. We are using PMTS code to make the process cycle time and method standard. After watching this video don't forget to share, like, comment, and subscribe to the channel.
