"Small tribute to a great Leader"

Yesterday was the last working day of the DGM (Maria Fatima Capiral Papa) of the IE Department of LDC Group. She came to Bangladesh after working in different countries. And for the first time worked in this group for 3 consecutive years in Bangladesh. Now she is Going back to her country, the Philippines. We Bangladeshis can hardly feel how professional the people of foreign countries can be. Today's writing recalls some memories of three years spent with Madam. This is very important for those who have already entered professional life or will enter this career in a few days.

She came to Bangladesh for the first time in June 2021. The GM of our department stayed in the Hong Kong office and rarely went to the country. However, Madam's decision was the most acceptable on many major issues of the internal department also outside of the department. Mainly, the purpose of recruiting DGM Madam from the Philippines to look after the IE department full-time. In the beginning, she started working with each department individually. Even Madam directly connected with the department's internal sewing, cutting, finishing, printing, and fabric inspection including waste management projects. Rebuilt a department and took it to unique heights.

We often hear the saying, "Be a leader, not a boss." Have you ever worked with these two types of people, bosses and leaders? I swear, most of us have worked under a boss but never under a leader. And those who are lucky and have a leader in their career. Let me give two small examples of how our madam was a leader.

I had just taken over as a new project coordinator. Madam also just joined us. I still needed an official mail address. So Madam sat me next to her and sent a mail to the top management on my behalf with her mail ID. Then she immediately sent me to IT and instructed them on the phone,

"Create an email address for Mamun just now."

She could have informed the manager about the issue of the mail or she could have hidden it herself if she wanted to, but she immediately solved my problem as her own.

For another day's event, we will have a new cutting floor. The task of designing the primary layout fell to me. On the first day, we went to the floor with an executive under me to take measurements. Madam immediately came down the stairs to the floor. The floor was a store room so there were no open windows or exhaust fans. Madam continued to sweat on the floor and gave us instructions for 1-2 hours. What should be placed in which place, how much will be the measurement of any area etc. A DGM level human, "She directly works with executive even with Jr. Executive level's manpower".

Yesterday, on her last day of work, one of our colleagues asked,

"Madam, what is the difference to work with Bangladeshi people and other country's people?"

Madam replied,

"Other countries believe that they are already at the top level of development. So, they don't want to take others' ideas. But in Bangladesh, all are trying to grab the new idea. That's Bangladesh, which has a great scope to develop."

We learned professionalism from her. Learned to prioritize intelligence over emotion. I have learned to raise my voice against something unethical from Loyal. As you develop yourself, you develop the mentality of others. Sitting in the highest seat of the department, she taught us to create the mentality of physically solving everyone's problems.

I will always remember Madam's last two words.

"Fortune will pay you back, definately."

"Give some pride to you"
